Steve Jobs, industry leader and Chairman of the Board at Apple passed away today at age 56. Here’s the statement from Apple:

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

Many of us at NC love and use Steve’s products, while all of us deeply respect and admire the man himself. As someone who has inspired and influenced many, Steve Job’s legacy will live on, not only as a true innovator, but as a good person.  Steve had reportedly suffered with numerous health issue over the past few years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family through this difficult time.

This past June Cullen Marriott and Jef Price, the Co-Founders of this fantastic site (if we don’t refer to it that way we’ll get fired), attended a event for Land Rovers held at The Wilds in Cumberland Ohio.  Read more »

Steve Jobs, the man who led Apple back from the brink and on to become the giant they are today, has stepped down as CEO. Below is the full press release.

Letter from Steve Jobs

August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it.
And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Mel Gibson continues to make a comeback in director and co-star Jodie Foster’s new film. Surprisingly uplifting and funny, this dark comedy hits the mark and makes for the strongest release this week. NC

Half-Life still has a huge place in classic FPS gaming, and a fan base that two years ago brought forth a short film from The Purchase Brothers called “Escape From City 17″. After you jump you can find the first part of their homemade film, and the second which we’ve had to wait about two years for.  Read more »
