I'm a big fan of the Army of two games, however after buying this the other day and beating it the same day…. Yep this game isn't very good. It took me maybe 4 hours to beat the whole game once and play through about half of it again. The graphics are decent enough, and though the gameplay is much less exciting then other games of this genre on the PSP or then ether of the console AOT games, it's playable and at times fun.
The real issue with this game is it's too short, and all the goodies that it's big brothers have, like customizing your masks and detailed upgrades on your gear… well they're all gone. Replaced by a crappy upgrade system that lacks any real improvement at all really done to your weapons. The ability to change the way your players looks is completely absent and the weapons in the game are weird ones that would be more at home in Halo then AOT. This games lack all that is good about it's big brothers on the consoles and instead leaves us with everything that's bad.
It's not a complete waste though, the game is fun for a dumbed down shooter version of the console versions, and it has great artwork spliced into the other wise annoying and stupid cutscenes.
We rate thing on a scale of 1-4 in the terms of Cool, Very Cool, Necessary, and at rare moments, Premier.
This game tries to do a lot of things that if they worked, would be pretty dang sweet, but few of them do, and what you're left with is a game you'll play just enough to earn the cash to buy the cool guns…But then you'll find out they suck too.
I've never done this in any review before, but Army of Two for PSP gets a Uncool rating. Rent it if you want to spend a few hours having fun or if you know someone you can play with online for awhile, but you;re better off tracking down Killzone and having your fun there, it'll cost you half as much, give you much more gameplay and suck 10 times less. UNCOOL. And a real letdown, this could have been a standout game.
