The mayor of Detroit spoke via Twitter not long ago saying, “There are not any plans to erect a statue to Robocop. Thank you for the suggestion.” And while this may be his feeling on the subject, Kickstarter and the people have spoken otherwise, raising over $60,000 to build just such a statue, this is about 10k over the Kickstarter goal and they have over 30 days to spare.

Plus you can still contribute, and each person who is a part of the fund raising will get a reward in the fashion of items from free beer to a T-Shirt. Take that crime… And Mayor Bing. Link. NC

Meet a couple of white guys named Todd Banks and Spencer Harmon. These two gents happen to be talented hip hop artists, and the happen to have an album coming out soon. Very soon in fact. September 30th there will be a local CD release party, and their new 18 track album releases Friday, September 3rd on iTunes. Supporting local music is often a good thing, but it’s better when the group you’re supporting just so happens to rock. NC

Last years Champion City Comic Con was a huge success, with it gathering together hundreds of comic and pop culture fanboys & girls from all over. With dozens of venders, writers, artists and speakers, Champion City is now upon us yet again.

Everyone gets shot of the of the big guns, but what sometimes happens is people pass over all the great indy talent. Well I knew I didn’t have time to hunt down everyone, so I headed to the indy books and started shooting. Saw some great stuff there, and after the photo runs are complete we’ll be sharing some spotlights on some of these guys in the weeks to come.
