If the new school of photography isn’t quite your cup of tea, or if you’re just looking something a bit more old school, the Diana F+ may be just what you need. Rather then conform to the new digital age of photography, Lomography has been promoting and creating a world around the photo stylings of yesterday.

Awhile back, Ok, about 50 years ago during the 1960′s, the Diana F+ was something of a legend among photography buffs. Known for the less then perfect, sometimes messy, dreamy, outright strange or even amazing images it produced, the Diana F+ was a first choice of many toy camera enthusiasts.

While the original Diana F+ may be found along with it’s many copies now only on Ebay, you can get your very own from the crew at Lomography. This reproduction has some upgrades though, as the original was lacking in options. However even with it’s improvements over the 960′s Diana, Lomography has kept the new DF+ very minimalist. It’s plastic lens creates arcs of light in your images you often times didn’t know were there and it’s old school flash allows for night photography that sometimes will surprise you even if you think you know what the outcome will be.

With only two shooting modes, and two aperture settings, this certainly isn’t a Hasselblad, but then again that’s the whole point. Using 120 roll film, this s a fantastic way for those uninitiated in medium format photography to get their feet wet. Head over to Lomography to check out some images from the Diana F+ and be on the look out for some from my shoot last week here at NC very soon. $95. NC
