Robert Downey Jr not only stole the show at the Academy, but he then proceeded to give us another great appearance on Jimmy’s show. The new trailer packs quite a punch, showing us at least 2 new Iron Man armors, War Machine in more detail, a shady deal being made between Justin Hammer and Whiplash, an army of Iron Men, and the (wait for it) Silver Centurion armor in suit case form!

Hit the jump to check out the new Trailer…

It looks like Iron Man 2 isn’t pulling any punches, and is taking the lesson of the Dark Knight to heart, specifically that if a super hero sequel is going to be better then movie #1, it’s needs to be bigger, badder, and take no prisoners.

A few things we noticed about the trailer…

#1 Whiplash goes to work for Justin Hammer, to design something that outdoes Iron Man in the tech department. This means we may yet see Crimson Dynamo. Or maybe even the movie version of Armor Wars?

#2 War Machine is on the same stage as what appear to be Justin Hammer’s Iron Men, meaning the scene where he has the “Lone Gunman” talk with Tony, might lead to a following out. If you remember from the first trailer you see Rhodey meeting with Hammer, so it’s possible that, at least for a short time, Rhodes is working with Justin Hammer.

#3 When Tony dons the Mark V suit case armor he’s wearing his racing gear, which means he’s at the track. This mean’s we’ll see a Whiplash/Iron Man throwdown at the track. This also means at this point in the film Tony has already designed the Mark VI. Assuming that the track scene takes place early in the movie, we’ve most likely seen only parts of the first quarter or so of the film.

This is all safe to assume, since Justin Hammer talks about the track scene when recruiting Whiplash. That scene would have to be at least a little ways into the film, and it would seem that it acts as a catalyst for the main plot points.

#4 The Black Widow will be meeting for Tony Stark under the cover of a notary,  so it’s possible she’s either there to steal his tech for Justin Hammer or the government, or maybe just sent in to spy for Nick Fury.

#5 Tony visits Whiplash in prison. Since Whiplash is not wearing his prison garb at this point, we have to wonder about the timeline for this scene, is this after the confrontation at the track? Or is it taking place before that?

#6 The stage that Justin Hammer is on with War Machine and the other Iron Men suits looks to be the same stage that Tony/Iron Man lands on in the first moments of the trailer. Is this after Iron Man shows up for the party or if this another convention taking place after then one with Iron Man? Our bets are that Tony shows up and then Justin declares war, catching him off guard with the launch of his own line of Iron Men.

    #7 This movie looks amazing.

Except for #7 these are all just our ideas from looking at the trailer. Do you have any of your own? Make sure to share them in our Forums!

On another note, this weekend we took to the stores to check out the new figures, and when we saw the Mark V we didn’t think it was anything more then a pipe dream that we would see it in this film, and yet once again Jon and Robert are showing they have more then one ace up their sleeve. This trailer leaves us wondering, if this is what they’re showing us now…. What else are they hiding? NC
