Well Pentax has a tagline that states “Be Interesting” well this is certainly interesting. Pentax claims the new Optio W80 is Waterproof, Coldproof and Shockproof. 12.1 megapixals, and wide angle 5x internal optical (AKA Real Zoom) Zoom.

The NC Take: Well we’ve not seen these in any store yet, nor have we tested it yet. However if it does half as well as they claim and gives us a good shot, this may very well be the next great thing. Pentax isn’t a brand I have a lot of time in with, but I’ve heard good things and they seem to be doing some very cool things. All in all, I’d say this could be Very Cool. There’s also not much in the way of competition for a camera like this, which is good for Pentax. Design, is also great, as it looks like it can take what you can dish out.
