A team at UC Berkley have figured out a way to control cyborg beetles remotely (Which is super creepy), the team comented on the creepy.. I mean amazing idea in a paper titled Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience.

“We demonstrated the remote control of insects in free flight via an implantable radioequipped miniature neural stimulating system… The pronotum mounted system consisted of neural stimulators, muscular stimulators, a radio transceiver-equipped microcontroller and a microbattery.”

Well I don’t know about you, but I find this to be one of the most bizarre things in recent tech news and it’s definitely a important step towards creating comic book style action in the real world. Maybe they’ll help Marvel come up with some ideas for the upcoming Antman film… But it maybe more likely we’ll see science fiction terror when they start using these to create real versions of Weapon X.
